Digital Deconstruction [Quayola]
January 12, 2011
Quayola is a visual artist based in London. His work focuses on various mediums exploring the space between video, audio, photography, installation, live performance and print. He brings design and programming together to create these site-specific media art installations. These installations work on different levels, classical vs contemporary, faith>logic, religion and laws. Breaking down the foundations to create another kind of experience, another world, where there’s place for innovation and development even in the upmost strict institutions which form our society and construct our space.
“The term Strata defines a geological formation made of multiple layers of rock. Each one of these layers has its own individual characteristics and history, which combined produce beautiful and unique formations…
The Strata project consist in a series of films, prints and installations investigating improbable relationships between contemporary digital aesthetics and icons of classical art and architecture. Like in geological processes, layers belonging to different ages interact with one another producing new intriguing formations.”

“I believe what is going to be an interesting ground for visual art in near future will be its relationships with architecture and in general with physical space.” (interview with Motionographer)
